Leopard Seal (Hydrurga leptonix)
Seal is one of the mammals that can live in the ocean. There is not only one type of seals that has been spotted now on the world. But the common tends to be found in colder waters in many places around the world. The thickness of their fur helps them to live in colder waters. There are about more than 30 different species of seal found in worlds.
There are so many seal that has cuteness as their characteristic. But the leopard is just beyond that, even though the cuteness affects the characteristic of the Leopard Seal, but this seal are tend to be aggressive as the natural seal predators. It is the second largest species of seal in the Antarctic. It is the most common in the Southern Hemisphere along the coast of Antarctica and on most sub-Antarctic islands.
The life span of this Seal are considered as the long live seal, because Leopard seal has about more or less 26 years, and possibly more depends on the situation and their genetics. The leopard seal is large and muscular, with a dark grey back and light grey on its stomach. Its throat is whitish with the black spots that give the seal its common name, and the Females are slightly larger than the males. The overall length of this seal is 2.4–3.5 m (8.4–11.7 ft) and weight is from 200 to 600 kilograms (440 to 1,300 lb). That’s the unique characteristic of this seal, which leads to the differences of the other seals.
